MANE MAN / MANE MANE
11 March / 17.00
Black Box teater, Lille scene

To MANE MAN is a meditative journey, a warning, an animating experience. On stage, performance art unfolds with inspirations from dance, crafts, joik and chanting. With hair and thread in focus, the threads are used and tied in and to the weave of life, what surrounds us, what keeps us firmly within ourselves, what we come from, what weaves us together.

Marita Isobel Solberg is a visual artist, chanter and composer. Her expression includes performance art, ceramics, sound and installation. Marita grew up in Manndalen / Olmmáivággi / Olmavankka in the North of Troms and throughout her upbringing she has been surrounded by meaningful materials and objects closely linked to nature, crafts and seasonal work. Meetings with people, languages and dialects have a wide range as the region is home to Sami, Swedish, Kven, Finnish and Norwegian culture. Through the Riddu Riđđu Festival, “the whole world” came early to her home. These are important elements in the material and immaterial archive she uses in her artistic expression. In addition to her master’s degree from Oslo National Academy of the Arts, she has been singing and exploring different art and musical genres ever since childhood. She works from her studio at Troms County Culture Center in Tromsø, and lives a nomadic life on the Norwegian and international music and art scene.

Duration: 40 minutes.
